PROCESS is about deconstructing the art you see to show the amount of labor, ideas, sketches, thoughts, and directions a project has to go through to be completed.

The Balloon Project - Downtown Flight

So this past sunday Josh and I went out for round 2 of sending the balloons up above manhattan.  It was AMAZING.  Not only was the run far more successful than the test flight (photo wise) but we had learned from trial and error and were able to make the most of the day and travel throughout lower manhattan with no wasted time.

Some of the highlights:

• An interested spectator on Wall st invited us up to his rooftop to fly our balloons from there.  He lived in the old JP Morgan building which was directly across from the New York Stock Exchange and it was a once in a life time opportunity to get that close to the beautiful sculptures on top of the Stock Exchange.

• We managed to invade someone private rooftop oasis - we had no clue until we were viewing the photographs later.

• We were able to get the full 500ft up in the air!  You could see across the island of Manhattan.

• I got to watch a pigeon fly right into our project and make an escape without fucking up our rig.

• We saw swarms and swarms of ecstatic onlookers of all ages.  Although the most excited people were children and senior citizens

• We ran into Bre Pettis from NYC Reactor, and Etsy who took a few shots and blogged about us immediately.

• Finally, to end day we gave our balloons out to a bunch of kids around our last flight and the last recipient was an elderly woman who was so happy to have a 3ft red balloon.  Watching her walk away with it was such a great finish.

So the day was great, had a lot of fun and got some really great shots out of it.  Next stop, coney island?
