So my man Jireh, shot some video still-life portraits and put them to Bon Iver’s “Up In The Woods” track. I love this track, and when I first saw it, I thought it was the legit video from Bon Iver, so I didn’t think much of it. I later found out it was a little video project of Jireh’s. He was telling me that at first he wasn’t sure what exactly he could use the footage for, that he just kind of shot it on a whim. But both the song and the footage have a really intense, introspective vibe to them that I think compliment each other great and almost seamlessly! Well done, man. Well done.

So I’ve been telling some of you about this, but I’m pretty psyched to say I’m lucky enough to be a part of Eric Smith’s project, LIVE NOW. Eric was able to take a potentially devastating situation being diagnosed with cancer and turn it into something truly inspiring. He has a small write-up on the project highlighting how the project came to be, as well as all the talented people contributing so far. Above I’ve posted one of my submissions for the project, originally based on this sketch.

Some great stuff coming from Steve Powers new project in Philly, A Love Letter For You.

“Love Letter is literally a love letter painted on the walls facing the Market elevated train. 40 local and international artists will paint the walls in august and the letter will be on view for one and all starting as early as Labor Day

The project will encompass 50 painted walls between 63rd and 45th street on Market Street, a documentary film with scripted elements, a sign school and shop that will provide training for area youth and free signage for businesses on the market street corridor, and 2 books documenting the project. One of the books will be a small paperback that will be distributed to area businesses free of charge, for them to sell to visitors. The other book will be a larger hardcover bookthat will document not only the artwork, but the neighborhood and the inspirations of the Love Letter Project.

Love Letter is an unprecedented public art project by Steve Powersand The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. It is funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative.”

I just saw this video up on Juxtapoz, that shows the folks over at Choque Cultural preparing and printing posters, and thought it was pretty cool. Also the article gave some pretty nice snapshots of the printers preparing Tara McPhersons poster for her upcoming show down there.
